Bundesnetzagentur ACER code registration for non-EU market participants
Entering EU wholesale gas or power markets from outside the EU? You need an ACER code before your first reportable trade. We prepare your registration with the Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) and act as your designated representative in Germany from day one.
Understanding ACER registration
The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) coordinates the work of national regulatory authorities across the EU. Market participants register with one national regulator, which passes the data to ACER. Each registered market participant receives a unique identification code, the ACER code, which it uses in REMIT reporting.
Bundesnetzagentur registration requirements
The Bundesnetzagentur is the German national regulatory authority responsible for overseeing energy market activities. As a non-EU company, you register with the national regulatory authority of the member state where you are active in the wholesale energy market. If that is the Bundesnetzagentur, your designated representative must be established in Germany.

Already registered in another member state?
A non-EU company must be registered in the same member state as its designated representative. To use a representative in Germany, you must be active in Germany and move your registration to the Bundesnetzagentur with the CEREMP function “Change Member State”. You then receive a new ACER code and must report lifecycle events (novations) for outstanding trades and contracts. See our notes for non-EU companies.
